Geelong Walkers
Club was formed
30 years ago by Noel Edgerton and was originally structured for
children involved in Little Athletics who were interested in
racewalking. The club has since evolved and it now caters for all types
of walkers be it serious race walkers, little athletics children, mums
/ dads and grandparents. All styles of walk are welcome and the Geelong
Walkers Club prides itself on its friendly family atmosphere.
The club holds various events - some serious, some for fun over
different distances. Many events are handicapped so
that everyone is on equal footing.

Athletics Victoria
is the
governing body of athletics within the State of Victoria and are
affiliated with Athletics Australia. As well as providing all year
around competition, they hold State Championships for most
age
groups (masters, veterans, U20, U18, U16, U14) over various walking
distances, both track and road. Athletics Victoria is the
normal
point of contact for all Victorian championships. In each case, there
should be a specific entry form available and entries will close up to
2 weeks before the event. Competitors must contact the Athletics
Victoria office, obtain and fill in the requisite entry form and return
it with due payment before the closing date.
As in all such cases, the details on the entry form may differ from the
above guidelines and the onus in on the individual competitor to ensure
that all is in place by the due date. VRWC normally try to have copies
of such entry forms at the club as an aid to members.

Athletics Clubs
affiliated with A.V.
There are a large number of athletics clubs, both suburban and country,
which are affiliated with Athletics Victoria and which cater for all
athletics events, including racewalking. These clubs participate in the
A.V. summer 'Interclub' competition and in the A.V. winter Cross
Country season. You must be a member of one of these clubs to compete
in A.V. championships.

Victorian Masters Athletics Club is a specialist organization overseeing Masters (30+ for women and 35+ for men) competition in Victoria. They hold their own Victorian Masters Championships in all athletics events including racewalking. They hold both summer track and winter road racewalking championships. Masters Athletics
Venues
There are a large number of Masters Athletics Venues which hold regular
competitions for older athletes in their area. These competitions
usually include racewalks. Full details of all the venues and contact
details can be found on the VMA website (see above).
Little Athletics Victoria is the body governing Little Athletics in Victoria. Little Athletics covers the age groups of U6 to U15 and holds Victorian State Championships each March. These championships include track racewalks for the age groups of U9 to U15. See the website at http://www.lavic.com.au/
Victorian Little Athletics Clubs affiliated with LAVic are spread all across Victoria and hold weekly track competitions from October to April. These competitons include racewalks at many of the competition venues. See the LAVic website for details.

Athletics Australia is the national governing body for athletics in Australia. It is affiliated with the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF). AA holds Australian Championships for all athletics disciplines including racewalking and is responsible for holding all selection trials for International events such as the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. To enter any of these events, there should be a specific entry form available and entries will close up to 2 weeks before the event. Racewalking Australia is the trading name for the Australian Federation of RaceWalking Clubs. This Federtation of walking clubs was formed in 1958 and represents all the major Race Walking Clubs of the States and Territories of Australia. It has a current membership of 11 clubs (of which Racewalking Victoria is one) with a total membership of some 500+ racewalkers. Their website is http://www.rwa.org.au.
The Federation's main "raison d'etre" is to act as the knowledgeable body concerned with Race Walking in Australia and to co-ordinate walking activities in Australia. To this end they
